The Cognition, Attention, and Brain (CAB) Lab, directed by Monica Rosenberg in the Department of Psychology at the University of Chicago, is seeking a full-time research assistant/lab manager for a targeted start date of summer 2019. The CAB Lab explores how we pay attention, and how insights from attention research can help improve focus. A primary goal of our research is using functional MRI to discover what we can learn about individuals from their unique patterns of brain activity, and what this can tell us about the nature of the brain and mind.

The ideal candidate for this position will have a bachelor's degree in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, computer science, engineering, or a related field. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential. Additional highly desired qualifications include strong computational and coding skills (e.g., MATLAB, Python, shell scripting), experience working with human participants, familiarity with neuroimaging analysis software (e.g., AFNI, FSL, SPM), and experience with Psychtoolbox and/or PsychoPy.

Responsibilities will include assisting with all aspects of research, including designing and programming experiments; recruiting, scheduling, and running participants; analyzing behavioral, fMRI, and eye-tracking data; managing large-scale neuroimaging datasets; and overseeing day-to-day lab operations (e.g., compiling information for IRB submissions and reviews, ordering supplies, maintaining the lab website). This is an ideal position for individuals preparing for graduate school in cognitive neuroscience.

An additional postdoctoral research position may also be available. The ideal candidate for this position would have a PhD in psychology or neuroscience, a record of published work related to the lab's interests, and expertise with computer programming and fMRI analysis.
